Raffensperger to Seek Another Term

Controversial Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed on Tuesday that he will seek another term.

Raffensperger has been the focal point of criticism of Georgia’s election from both sides of the political aisle. He routinely ignored the widespread concerns over election security throughout the state.

Additionally, Raffensperger has questioned the place of President Trump and his supporters within the Republican Party.

Raffensperger spoke to the Rotary Club of Gwinnett County when detailing his plans, according to a report from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Now I’ve lived it and I can tell you it’s very important to the very fabric of society and us as Americans. When the time came to choose I had to make a decision. And I came down on the side of the rule of law,” he claimed.

However, Raffensperger faces long odds on his quest for reelection. Congressman Jody Hice has already launched a primary campaign against him. Many state and local Republican officials have endorsed Hice’s primary challenge, including from President Trump.

“Wow, just heard the good news. One of our most outstanding Congressmen, Jody Hice (R-GA-10), has announced he is running for Secretary of State in the Great State of Georgia. Jody has been a steadfast fighter for conservative Georgia values and is a staunch ally of the America First agenda,” former President Trump said in his endorsement of Hice.

Hice has promised to make election security one of his top issues throughout his campaign.

Trump has been consistent in his critique of the Secretary of State and promised to campaign against him.

At a rally in early January, Trump said, “I’ll be here in a year and a half campaigning against your Governor, and your crazy Secretary of State.”
