‘Truth About Socialism’ Tour Heads to University of North Florida

A tour that aims to teach college students about the ills of socialism will make a stop at the University of North Florida Wednesday.

“The national ‘Truth About Socialism’ tour, which aims to educate students on college campuses across America about the dangers of socialism ahead of the midterm elections, is coming to the University of North Florida,” according to the press release from the organizers of the event. “This event will be hosted by Turning Point USA in partnership with the Leadership Institute, and members of the press are encouraged to attend.”

The headliner for the event is a man called Jorge Galicia, a Venezuelan who fled to the country to escape socialism.

“Christian, lawyer and freedom fighter – these are the words that define Jorge’s life. Before socialism devastated his country, Jorge lived a life not unlike that of middle-class Americans,” the press release says. “But now, he is one of 4 million Venezuelans who have fled their country following its economic, social and political collapse.”

The tour is organized by The Fund for American Studies [TFAS].

CASE

“The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit that is changing the world by developing leaders for a free society. Our transformational programs teach the principles of limited government, free-market economics and honorable leadership to students and young professionals in America and around the world,” according to that organization’s website.

TFAS says more than 42,000 people have enrolled in its programs, and are “making the difference in their communities and throughout the world by championing the values essential to the preservation and success of a free society.”
