During his 18-minute monologue released Thursday afternoon, Carlson said “there’s never been a candidate for president the media hated more than [RFK] Jr,” adding that even former President Donald Trump got a “gentle scalp massage” in regards to media coverage when compared to what RFJ Jr. has been receiving ever since he announced his candidacy.
Carlson went on to cite instances of the media “attacking” RFK Jr, including a piece by The New York Times accusing Kennedy of “shaking Americans faith in science,” CBS News calling his views as “misleading and dangerous,” and the LA Times calling him “a threat to democracy.”
“Kennedy became the most censored famous person in the United States. At this point most Americans have heard a lot more about Bobby Kennedy Jr than they’ve heard from him. He doesn’t get many offers to speak from Big platforms,” Carlson added.
The former Fox News host added that Kennedy is targeted by the media over his willingness to “notice the obvious.”
“Kennedy pays attention to the world around him and he wonders why it’s changing. He’s an Outdoorsman, a falconer and a fly fisherman. He’s interested in how nature works. He’s curious,” Carlson said. “Not so long ago these qualities were considered essential to the practice of science. All scientific discovery comes from observation: empiricism, patient watching. Without the willingness to put aside your pre-assumptions and assess with honesty the things you see and touch and smell, the changes taking place right in front of your face, you can’t do science; you can’t create art either, or journalism or theology.”
“You have to be willing to notice the obvious and when they tell you you’re not allowed to notice the obvious you should be concerned,” Carlson added.
As of press time, the latest installment of Carlson’s video podcast, posted at 5:50pm CT on Thursday, had 19.1 million views. In all, the six episodes have been seen 346.1 million times on Twitter.
