In a new poll released by Grassroots Targeting on Monday, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker leads Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) by 10 percentage points.
Walker leads Warnock by 10.4 percentage points or 51.4 percent to 41 percent in the poll.
When asked about former Georgia Bulldog, Herschel Walker, running for U.S. Senate in 2022, Florida Senator Rick Scott was reluctant to express support for Walker or any other candidate for the upcoming cycle of Republican Senate primaries.
Scott, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), stood by their decision to stay out of the upcoming primary even with situations like Walker who has gained a magnitude of support, including an endorsement from former President Donald Trump in March.
The Georgia State Election Board on Tuesday unanimously voted to dismiss an illegal voting complaint against Julie Blanchard, the wife of GOP U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker, for voting absentee from her husband’s home in Texas.
The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office recommended the dismissal following its investigation into the complaint, for which they found insufficient evidence to prove that Blanchard was ineligible to cast an absentee ballot from Walker’s Texas home in October 2020.
Former President Donald Trump said football legend Herschel Walker told him that he would run for Georgia’s Senate seat in 2022 on the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show Tuesday.
“He told me he’s going to, and I think he will,” Trump said on the show. “I had dinner with him a week ago. He’s a great guy. He’s a patriot. He’s a very loyal person. They love him in Georgia.”
Former U.S. President Donald Trump this week suggested that Georgia native and Heisman Trophy winner Hershel Walker represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate. “Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia?” Trump asked in a statement this week.
