A group of six U.S. senators signed a pledge doubling down on an earlier commitment to not allow the “fast-tracking” of any Biden Article III court judicial nominees or U.S. attorney nominations.
“In a continuing response to the current administration’s persecution of President Donald Trump, we will not allow the fast-tracking of any Biden Article III court judicial nominees, as well as Biden U.S. attorney nominations,” the senators said.
“Further, we will not permit the fast-tracking of nominees who have suggested the Trump prosecutions were reasonable, endorsed President Trump’s guilt in these sham proceedings, joined or supported organizations that celebrated the indictment of President Trump, supported the “get-Trump” candidacy of Alvin Bragg, or supported lawfare or censorship in other ways,” the senators added.

Thursday’s commitment comes two weeks after a group of senators signed an initial pledge vowing to not allow any increase to non-security related funding for the Biden administration or any appropriations bill that funds partisan lawfare, vote to confirm the administration’s political and judicial appointees, and not allow expedited consideration and passage of Democrat legislation or authorities that are “not directly relevant to the safety of the American people.”
Both pledges signed by the Republican senators are in direct response to former President Donald Trump being found guilty by a Manhattan jury on all 34 counts in the falsification of business records linked to the Stormy Daniels hush money scandal, marking the first time in history that a U.S. president has been convicted of a felony.
The six senators who signed Thursday’s pledge said their commitment will last until Election Day on November 5, when “the American people will have the opportunity to decisively reject attempts to settle political disputes through the legal system.”
Thursday’s pledge by the senators currently applies to 44 nominees, a number that could grow if the Biden administration announces further nominations.
“While it is not our intent to bring any single nominee into disrepute, if our rights are challenged on the floor of the U.S. Senate, we will prosecute a forceful public case using all the tools at our disposal. Every signer is pledged to defend against attempts to fast-track the confirmation of Biden nominees. This will be accomplished through a joint effort and not be reliant upon a single Member’s willingness to hold every nominee,” the senators said.
Thursday’s pledge was signed by U.S. Senators JD Vance (R-OH), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Mike Lee (R-UT), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and Eric Schmitt (R-MO).
